Kerbside Glass Collection for Recycling

Glass recycling (Luigi Gregori)

We are calling on Test Valley Borough Council to improve their recycling capabilities for residents and introduce kerbside glass collection.

Test Valley Borough Council has stated:

"It is looking increasingly likely that from early 2023 residents will be able to include glass, thin plastics such as pots, tubs and trays, and Tetra Pak-style cartons in their recycling bins. And in further good news, the council anticipates that it will be able to offer a weekly food waste service."

We are asking why we have to wait when we need change now.

Many other local Hampshire Councils including Eastleigh, Winchester, Basingstoke and Dean and Southampton already have successful kerbside glass collection for recycling.

Transporting recycable glass to bottle banks or booking an appointment at the Household Waste Site is not an easy option for many.

We, the undersigned, petition Test Valley Borough Council to implement a kerbside glass collection service in advance of the government deadline of 2023.
