Ria Meiszner: Candidate for Tadley North, Kingsclere and Baughhurst

I reside in Tadley with my husband and work as a horticulture apprentice at a local gardening and landscaping company.

After many years of working in a demanding office environment, I was furloughed for several months and during this time I had an opportunity to reflect on my career path. I decided to pursue my passion for the outdoors and retrain as a gardener. In these difficult times, residents may find themselves in similar situations and I'd be happy to share my experience and details of the support I found available.

I have a keen interest in nature and bird-life and through my local Lib Dem councillor, I learnt about the project at Wigmore Heath which is no ordinary patch of woodland! It is a Site of Interest for Nature Conservation and in 2019 was given Local Nature Reserve status. I didn't know that my local area was hiding such a gem! The area is being restored to lowland heath and once completed will be an important stepping stone between nearby heath areas, such as Greenham Common. If elected, I would continue to support such schemes.

I would like to become a Borough councillor as I want to be more involved in the community, finding out what is important to the local residents and being someone who can be relied upon to raise their concerns.
