Lib Dems Welcome Andover Cinema Campaign Success10.52.22am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 27th Apr 2005
Reacting to the news that a 4-screen cinema complex is likely to be built at Anton Mill, Martin Tod, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for North West Hampshire commented: "It's good news that the council has given in to pressure from local people and that a cinema could be coming to Andover. Our campaign to get a cinema was backed by more than 2,000 local people. It's good that the people of Andover have finally been listened to." Robin Hughes, Leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Test Valley Borough Council, commented: "These are encouraging promises. We now need to make sure that they are delivered. No contracts have been signed and the funding is not yet committed. The important thing now is to ensure that the agreements that have been made are delivered upon. We will keep up the pressure to make sure that they are."
