Reacting to the news that Test Valley Borough Council have agreed in principle to buy the Cricklade theatre building and refurbish it as an Arts centre for a cost of £1.5 million, Martin Tod, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for North West Hampshire commented:

"It is an encouraging start but it's worrying that the Borough Council and County Council have not yet committed to the funding. Andover needs much better facilities and this is a move in the right direction."

Robin Hughes, Leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Test Valley Borough Council, commented:

"These are encouraging promises. We now need to make sure that they are delivered. Saving the theatre is only the first part of what's needed for Andover. We will be continuing our campaign for a cinema as well."
