This hustings was the first occasion in memory that such an event was held in Whitchurch.
It was organised by local Christian Aid activists led by Andrew Smith, the event was chaired by Kelvin Inglis who is the vicar of the local parish church.
Present were all known candidates in the forthcoming general election, including our own Tom McCann.
The evening started with each candidate giving his/her response to the Christian Aid manifesto. There were then questions from the audience related to the Christian Aid agenda and each candidate in turn responded to each question. The same procedure followed for more general questions.
Tom McCann put over a number of positive Lib Dem policies.
Tom says 'This was a great event, thanks very much to the organisers. I hope everyone who attended it enjoyed it as much as I did!'
