June 20, 2007 8:25 PM

Graham Clewer, an activist in Whitchurch, Hampshire, since the mid seventies died on 13th June 2007.

In 1978 Graham was agent for Tommy Brooks, the first Liberal to be elected to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. Graham went on to ensure that over the next 29 years the ward consistently elected two Liberals/Lib Dems in every local election. He was agent for the parliamentary candidate in North West Hampshire in 1983 when he saw the vote grow to 33%. Graham was also a Constituency Chairman, a Town Councillor and Mayor of Whitchurch Town Council. Recently he undertook the role of Constituency Webmaster. He will be very much missed.
