2005 General Election BarChart
Liberal Democrats are celebrating a sharp increase in their vote at the recent General Election.
Locally, Martin Tod's vote increased by 3.6%pts vs 2001 while Labour fell 4.8%pts to 3rd place and the Conservatives only grew their share of the vote by 0.6%pts, well below the Hampshire average.
Martin Tod, Lib Dem candidate at the recent election commented "This is the best Lib Dem result in North West Hampshire since 1992 and our biggest increase in our local vote since 1982. People reacted well to our campaigns on health and pensions, and our clear opposition to the other parties on civil liberties and Iraq. Combined with our victory in the Andover North county division, and the very close finishes in Whitchurch & Clere and Tadley & Baughurst, this puts us in an excellent position to make strong progress in upcoming local elections."
