Lib Dems back Whitchurch Royal Mail Delivery Office protest - and extend campaign to Overton.

Whitchurch Delivery Office Campaign

Lib Dems campaign against closure of Whitchurch Local Delivery Office.

Lib Dems were out in force at the protest against the threatened sorting Royal Mail Delivery Office closure at Whitchurch on Saturday morning.

Martin Tod, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, commented: "Closing the delivery office is a crazy idea. Local people are strongly opposed and have strongly backed our petition and our website with nearly 1,000 signatures so far. We will not stop working until the Sorting Office is saved."

After the protest in Whitchurch, the Lib Dem team carried on collecting petition signatures in Whitchurch and then went on to Overton to collect petition signatures there as well.

John Wall, County Councillor for Whitchurch & Clere, added "Whitchurch Liberal Democrats started the petition against this closure - but this is not just a Whitchurch problem. It will also affect Overton very badly too. We took the petition to Overton on Saturday and got great support from people there as well."

The website backing the campaign can be found at http://www.thirdclassmail.org.uk.
