Pensioners across North West Hampshire have been backing the Liberal Democrat campaign to keep the pension book.
"If pensioners want continue to use their pension books they should be allowed to do so" says Martin Tod, local Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate.
New regulations mean that the pension book is being phased out and will disappear by 2005. Over 5,900 pensioners in North West Hampshire will be affected.
Martin Tod listens to Mrs Moss of Tadley who is backing the Liberal Democrat campaign to save the pension book.
"I don't want to lose my pension book. It's convenient and it helps with my budgeting. I really don't want my pension paid into my bank account instead" noted one of the people who signed the petition, Tadley/North West Hampshire pensioner Mrs Moss.
Liberal Democrats want to give pensioners the freedom to choose a payment system which is best for them.
"If a pensioner feels that a pension book suits their needs they should be allowed to continue with that payment method."
